Michigan Sept. 2010: Part 2

The second full day that we spent in Michigan we decided to take a road trip all around Northern Michigan. We left pretty early that morning around 7:00 am. And our day wouldn't end until about 11:00 pm when we made it back to the house that night. It was a LONG day but an incredible one. I think Rob said we drove approximately 1,000 miles around Michigan.

Our first stop on our mini road trip was Deadman's Hill. After walking up the hill you get to look out at one of the coolest views Michigan has to offer. Here is a really nice photo of the view and the beautiful colors of Fall in Michigan.

Our second stop was Traverse City, Charlesvoix which is a beautiful city that lies right on the coast of Lake Michigan. Rob and I stopped there to take some photos and to eat at this gorgeous bed and breakfast. The food was so good and the view from our table was incredible. I thought the interior of the restaurant was so fitting for it's location. It had sort of a beach feel to it. Here's a photo.

And here's a photo of Rob at the bed and breakfast.

Here are some photos of Little Traverse Bay.

Our third stop on our tour of Northern Michigan was the Mackinac Bridge. We didn't actually stop on it but we did drive over the 5 mile long bridge and we stopped at the Straights of Mackinac National Park. I have to admit driving over the a bridge that long and high up with railings only as high as my waist was kind of nerve wrecking. But the view from up there was so worth it. And it gave me kind of an adrenaline rush also. Here are some photos of I took of the bridge.

Our fourth stop of the day was at the Forty Mile Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse is located on the coast of Lake Huron. It was established in 1896. It was pretty awesome!

In between our fourth and fifth stop we ended up taking a dirt road that led us back to the coast of Lake Huron. We drove on this dirt road for a few miles. It was actually quite fun. There were huge puddles of water all along the road which made it a pretty bumpy ride. Rob kept swerving to miss the puddles in order to prevent his car from getting stuck in the mud. I get car sick very easily so in the process of him trying to avoid the mud I was getting seriously nauseous as my stomach was doing flips inside my body. Luckily I didn't barf and was back to feeling normal within a few minutes of us reaching the shore line. One cool thing about that dirt road we decided to take was that we got to see a pheasant. I had never seen one before that day. And I got some pretty pictures of Lake Huron.

Here's a photo of the pheasant with his mohawk.

After all those bumps in the road and the fact that I drank 5 bottles of water and there was no bathroom in sight we had to stop so I could pee! Rob got a funny picture of me doing so.

And here are some pictures of Lake Huron. What I like to call a little piece of paradise.
