I will admit it.
When we first got to Starved Rock State Park I was like what is the big deal? It's just a bunch of trees. Boy, was I wrong. Yes there were a lot of trees. And it was extremely humid that day so the mosquitoes were out and it was HOT. And there was a lot of walking up and down stairs involved. But it was worth it. I mean how often do you get to see natural waterfalls? I never knew Illinois had waterfalls until we visited Starved Rock. And if my six year old son, Tyler could walk up all those stairs and endure the heat and humidity then I could too.
Here is some history on what was called "One of the seven wonders of Illinois":
And here are some photos from our day at Starved Rock State Park-
Did I mention there were A LOT of stairs? :)

Every time I see this photo it reminds me of the famous painting by Monet "Water Lily Pond"

How cool is that?? Being able to play in a waterfall.
